Living with Moshiach

This week's Torah portion discusses Jacob's journey to the land of Charan. Jacob left his father's land and went to his uncle Lavan, where he lived for twenty years. His surroundings did not comply with the Torah way of living. Nonetheless, he held strong and overcame the test, by raising twelve children in the path of G-d. He received the power to overcome this hard test, from the (guardian) angels who escorted him from the land of Israel. After Jacob passed his test, and it was time for him to return to the land of Israel, the angels appeared to him once again. However, this time they were not guardian angels, rather they were angels of glory. They did not come to give Jacob the power to overcome tests (as they did before) - this time they came to praise him for succeeding in this hard task.

We, like Jacob, were taken out of our fathers' home (Israel) and placed into exile. Here, it is hard to live our lives as Jews without being influenced. However, before we went into exile, we were given the power to overcome this test by the guardian angels. Now, as we stand at the end of exile, and the world is ready for the redemption, these angels are returning to us. However, they are not guardian angels, they are angels of glory, who are going to bring us back home. May this take place immediately.

Moshiach Facts

In today's day and age, we find that only miracles which are above nature are recognized as miracles. If a miracle, which is enclothed in nature were to happen, it would not be recognized as a true miracle. However, in the days of Moshiach, being that the world will recognize G-dliness in everything, there will be recognition of these forms of miracles as well. This is the reason why, in regard to the redemption, the verse says "Behold this is our G-d, this is G-d...," emphasizing "this" twice. However, in regard to the splitting of the sea, "this" was only mentioned once. For, by the miracle of splitting the sea, only one form of miracles were revealed to the world, unlike the upcoming redemption, where miracles enclothed in nature will also be revealed.

Watching Over His Flock

They Have A Connection To Me

A certain couple from New York had the misfortune of not being able to have children. At one point they came to 770 to bring a young man and woman to the Rebbe for a blessing for their engagement.

Upon entering the private study of the Rebbe they handed the Rebbe their personal note, which included a request for a blessing for children for the couple who brought them.

After the young man and woman left their private audience, the Rebbe called his personal secretary, Rabbi Groner in. He told Rabbi Groner "Outside there is a married couple who have a connection to me." Please call them in immediately.

Rabbi Groner went outside and called over the only married couple in sight (the couple who brought the young man and woman). He told them that the Rebbe wants to see them immediately.

The couple entered the Rebbe's room and the Rebbe told them that he is giving them his blessing that they will G-d willing have children. The couple, whom were promised by doctors that they would not be able to have children, were overwhelmed with joy.

A short time later, this couple went to the doctor with complete faith that the Rebbe's blessing will be fulfilled. The doctor however remained with his same conclusion, that not only is she not pregnant, but it is actually impossible for her to ever become pregnant.

They did not however, G-d forbid, give up their faith in the blessing. The husband returned to the Rebbe, as the Rebbe was giving out wine "Kos Shel Bracha". The Rebbe handed him an entire bottle of Vodka and told him that he was soon to have a Simcha.

Once again the couple found themselves in the doctor office, only this time the doctor told them that he had been mistaken and she was already some time into her pregnancy. Some time later they gave birth to a son, who now devotes his life to doing the work of the Rebbe.

The Coming Of Moshiach Without Conditions!

Rabbi Mordechai Chashin, the Rav of Kasho, said to the Rebbe:

I am the of head the organization Hassad Haruchni which has operated for the past thirty years in Israel. At the Chassidic gathering, of Yud Tes Kislev, twenty five years ago, the Rebbe gave me a blessing, that since every new activity is done with extra enthusiasm and joy, G-d should help that our organization should continue to grow until the coming of the righteous redeemer. And sure enough, twenty five years have passed, and our activities have continued to grow, more and more.

The Rebbe: But where is the righteous redeemer?

The Rav of Kasho: He will certainly come.

The Rebbe: This is written in the prayer book - that he will certainly come. I am asking when will he come?

The Rav of Kasho: "Today - if you will hearken to His voice" (a passage quoted in the Talmud in reference to Moshiach's coming.)

The Rebbe: G-d should help (that it be so). Why do you have to add conditions? When G-d adds conditions, that is His business. But a Jew should not set conditions. It should realy be today. Very soon.

Rav of Kasho: And we will go together.....

The Rebbe: Very soon.
